Boxing fans can look forward to a spectacular evening of boxing on Saturday, November 4, including two world title fights and two other championship matches.
At the renowned Casino de Monte Carlo, 31 year old Welsh hero Joe Cordina from Cardiff, will defend his IBF super featherweight world title against his American opponent 28 year old Edward Vazquez from Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.
Thought to be among the best British boxers of our time, Cordina (16-0, 9 KOs) is back in the ring after defeating Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov in an incredible fight last April. Cordina is a two-time world champion in just 16 matches. After defeating Mario Enrique Tinoco in November 2019, Cordina returns to Monaco.
Vazquez (15-1, 3 KOs), who is getting his first-ever shot at the world title because of a four-fight winning streak, will present a formidable challenge to Joe Cordina trained by Tony Sims. Edward Vazquez defeat in his career came via split decision at the hands of Raymond Ford in May 2022.
“I’m expecting it to be a tough fight, but if I can’t beat Edward Vazquez, I don’t deserve to be world champion,” said Codina in media reports.
“I’m excited to be fighting at the Casino de Monte-Carlo for a second time as I put my IBF Super-Featherweight World Title on the line against Edward Vazquez,” said Cordina.
“I have happy memories of fighting in Monte Carlo, landing the WBA Continental Title in my first outing down at Super-Featherweight, and I’m looking to put on another explosive performance on November 4 as I continue to work towards unifying the division. Tune in live on DAZN,” added Joe Cordina.
“We’re delighted to be returning to beautiful Monte Carlo for another stacked night of World Title action,” said Eddie Hearn the Matchroom Sport Chairman.
“This will be our first fight night in Monte Carlo since 2019 and I’m thrilled to be returning with a huge World Title double-header featuring IBF Super-Featherweight World Champion Joe Cordina defending his crown against Edward Vazquez and IBF Light-Flyweight World Champion Sive Nontshinga putting his belt on the line against Adrian Curiel Dominguez,” said Hearn.
