Devin Haney’s defeat over Ryan Garcia in April of last year still bothers him. In response to promoter Eddie Hearn’s apparent support of superstar Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs), Haney has been reposting constantly on X, claiming that Ryan rigorously used the prohibited steroid ostarine to help him lose weight for the bout. Andre Ward shares the same viewpoint.

Hearn believes that Haney’s defeat by Ryan Garcia has left him “psychologically” and “emotionally” scarred. Haney is a former two-division world champion. Put differently, it’s possible that Haney’s loss to Ryan destroyed him forever, leaving him a damaged shell that babbles on while he tries to make sense of what happened to him. Hearn believes Ryan, 26, was attempting to make weight at the last minute because he weighed 3.2 pounds more than he should have for the fight at 143.2 pounds.

Hearn discussed Ryan’s positive test, which appears to be upsetting to Haney. He believes that Ryan would have failed earlier tests if he had been using ostarine as a gain aid. Haney still seems to be haunted by his loss and is fixated by Ryan’s positive test result. Instead of advocating for a rematch to make amends or talking about fights against other elite fighters, he is still talking about it four months later.

Fans find it incomprehensible that Haney is still in tears over Ryan’s positive test results since it seems like he’s making an effort to push the memory of the loss from their minds by bringing up the fact that he passed. It will not succeed.

Though Haney’s loss was overturned by the New York Commission and there was no contest, the supporters aren’t persuaded. What they observed was Haney being repeatedly dropped by Ryan and being physically assaulted. Haney’s face was severely swollen after the fight, and he had lost.

“It would leave me to believe that it was in relation to the weight cut. I believe he took that to try and make weight for the fight,” said promoter Eddie Hearn.

“Let’s just say that is the case. Why didn’t he make weight then?” said Devin Harney.
