Donald Trump endorsed MyPillow founder Mike Lindell for Minnesota governor and attacked Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar as she entered the race to succeed Governor Tim Walz.

Trump gave Lindell what he called his “Complete and Total Endorsement,” while branding Klobuchar and Walz “corrupt” and “incompetent” in a post aimed at the state’s 2026 gubernatorial contest. He renewed his claim that Minnesota elections are “rigged.”

“Vote for Mike Lindell for Governor, who has my Complete and Total Endorsement, and forget about these Corrupt Dumocrats like Amy Klobuchar,” Trump said in the post.

The endorsement lands as Klobuchar, a three-term senator first elected in 2006, shifts her ambitions toward the governor’s office being vacated by Walz, the 2024 Democratic vice-presidential nominee.

Here is the full post on Truth Social: “Amy Klobuchar, the lightly respected Senator from Minnesota, is running for Governor to take the place of the current Corrupt and Incompetent Tim Walz. I have gotten to know Klobuchar over the years, and find her to be equally as incompetent as Walz, and probably equally as corrupt in that, as a high Government Official from Minnesota, she knew everything that was going on. If the Elections in Minnesota weren’t RIGGED, any Republican could win, but they were, and that is why nobody has won there since Richard Nixon many years ago. I thought I won it all three times, only to be disappointed in the end. Vote for Mike Lindell for Governor, who has my Complete and Total Endorsement, and forget about these Corrupt Dumocrats like Amy Klobuchar. MAKE MINNESOTA GREAT AGAIN! Trump” on July 15, 2026 at 1:09 PM ET.

This is the first message released by Trump today. On average, Trump produces about 2.7 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025.

The stakes fall on both parties. A Lindell candidacy hands Trump a loyal ally atop a ticket he has struggled to carry, while Klobuchar’s move opens a Senate seat and reshapes a statewide race Democrats have long dominated. Lindell, a vocal promoter of election-fraud claims, would test whether that message can win a general election.

Trump’s assertion about Minnesota’s voting history holds up. The state has not backed a Republican for president since Richard Nixon carried it in 1972, the longest such streak of any state. Trump lost Minnesota in 2016, 2020 and 2024, each time by a competitive but clear margin.

For the average reader, the fight signals how central election-integrity claims remain to Republican primaries heading into the 2026 midterms. Voters in states with open governorships may see similar endorsements shape who advances to the general election.

Has this happened before? It has. Trump has repeatedly elevated allies who echo his election claims, backing candidates in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Georgia in 2022, several of whom lost competitive general-election races despite winning their primaries.

Minnesota voters will render the next decision at the ballot box, though the primary and general-election dates for the 2026 governor’s race were not specified in the post. A date for the party endorsements has not been announced.

Minnesota’s blue tilt has frustrated Republicans as happened before. The last Republican governor, Tim Pawlenty, left office in 2011 after two terms, and the party has not held the seat since. Democrats swept every statewide office in 2022, and Walz won reelection that year by roughly 8 percentage points. That pattern leaves endorsements like Trump’s facing a steep statewide climb.

The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 105 of his 516 posts over the last 30 days focused on elections.
