WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald J. Trump, the 47th president of the United States, warned that the Democratic Party’s leftward turn ends in “squalor, crime, and death,” framing socialist primary wins as a threat to the country.

Trump made the remarks in an hour-long Oval Office interview published by Breitbart News, according to breitbart. He argued that history offers no counterexample to his claim, and he tied the debate to a wave of insurgent socialist candidates ousting establishment Democrats.

“Go back 1,000 years, different names, but the concept of give away everything ends up in squalor, crime, and death,” Trump told Breitbart News, according to breitbart.
