Donald J. Trump posted a video to Truth Social, the platform where he commands the largest audience and holds a direct financial stake as the company markets a new service selling early access to top accounts. The president holds the most followers on the platform at 12.9 million, according to theguardian.com. His media company recently unveiled a plan to charge Wall Street firms for high-speed access to those posts. The video lands amid mounting scrutiny of how the presidency and the platform intersect.

Here is the full post on truthsocial: “truthsocial post containing one video.” on August 5, 2026 at 12:54 AM ET.

This is Trump’s 6th message released today, and the last post was 0 minutes ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 40 of his 464 posts over the last 30 days classified as image-only posts.

Trump launched Trump Media & Technology Group C orp.in 2021 a fterMeta Platforms Inc Cla ss A’s Facebook and X banned him following the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to theguardian.com. He introduced truthsocial in February 2022 and floated the business two years later under the ticker symb ol “Trump Media & Technology Gro up Corp.,” his initials, at an initial valuation of $8 billion, according to theguardian.com. Trump indirectly owns about 53% of the company through shares he transferred to a trust in December 2024, a month before he took office, according to theguardian.com. That stake represents a paper fortune of about $1.41 billion based on the company’s $2.67 billion market capitalization.

The stakes reach beyond a single clip.Trump Media & Technology Group C orp.announced a service called Truth PSI that would let trading firms and other institutions see the highest-ranking truthsocial accounts before other users, according to theguardian.com. Traders could then profit from subsequent moves in stocks, bonds and interest rates. Because the most popular poster is the president himself, and he is the biggest shareholder of the publicly traded parent, he would benefit directly, according to theguardian.com.

Critics say the arrangement blurs the line between public office and private gain. “He’s selling expedited, privileged access to information about what he is doing as president,” said Kathleen Clark of the Washington University School of Law and an expert in government conflict of interest rules, according to theguardian.com. “It’s yet more brazen corruption, an improper exploitation of government power to enrich himself.”

Trump uses the platform to announce decisions that move markets, including posts on the Iran conflict and tariffs. He made more than 100 posts in a single day last year as global stock markets fell sharply, according to theguardian.com. The Iran posts carried weight because investors feared higher oil prices would stoke inflation and pressure the Federal Reserve, according to theguardian.com. Stock in the company has plunged more than 70% since he took office, erasing $6 billion in shareholder wealth, according to theguardian.com.

The scale of the losses stands out against the company’s revenue. Trump took in more than $1 billion in revenue last year across the same companies and offerings, according to theguardian.com. He earned $2.2 billion in total in his first year back in office, based on a mandatory disclosure with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, according to theguardian.com. That combination of falling stock and rising personal revenue frames the tension around the platform.

For the average reader, the platform functions as a direct channel from the president to markets and headlines. A single post can shift the price of a retirement account, a mortgage rate or a grocery bill tied to trade policy. Paid early access would place professional traders ahead of ordinary followers who already receive push alerts for free.

This has happened before in the sense that Trump has repeatedly channeled major announcements through the platform rather than official White House releases. Posts on tariffs and foreign policy have preceded formal statements throughout his term. The paid-access model, however, marks a new commercial layer on top of that pattern.

Trump Media & Technology Group C orp.said it plans to start the service and has already signed up customers, according to theguardian.com. The company has not announced a firm public start date or the price customers will pay. A regulatory or ethics review timeline for the offering has not been announced.

Selling privileged access to information is not the first time market-moving speech has raised conflict questions. In 1792, 24 brokers signed the Buttonwood Agreement under a tree on Wall Street, setting fixed commissions and forming the foundation of what became the New York Stock Exchange. Early traders who learned news first, often by fast horse or private courier, profited before the public caught up, and reformers spent more than a century building disclosure rules to close that gap. The men who controlled information first built the fortunes that later financiers spent generations trying to regulate.
