Trump Signs Executive Order Creating Women’s Health Task Force, NIH Division

WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald J. Trump signed an executive order establishing a White House Women’s Health Task Force and a new Women’s Health Division within the National Institutes of Health, a move the administration said will strengthen federal coordination of research and clinical care for women.
The order, titled Advancing Women’s Health to Improve Outcomes in All Phases of Life, rescinds prior administration initiatives in favor of an approach that prioritizes translating research into improved clinical outcomes, according to whitehouse.gov.
“Previous generations fought for women’s rights. Our generation will fight to discover the cures that will ensure a woman can live her life in health and to the fullest,” Melania Trump said from the White House, according to whitehouse.gov.
The executive order marks a significant structural change to the federal government’s women’s health apparatus, creating two new entities tasked with closing gaps in scientific understanding and accelerating the path from laboratory discoveries to patient care.

This is Trump’s 28th message released today, and the last post was 2 minutes ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 43 of his 527 posts over the last 30 days classified as Domestic Policy posts.
Trump signed the order in the Rose Garden on the morning of October 19. Melania Trump co-signed the document, though her signature does not carry legal force, according to breitbart. It symbolizes her role in conceiving the initiative. Trump mentioned the source (see breitbart) in his post promoting the announcement.

The task force will pursue what the administration described as a comprehensive approach to women’s health. It recognizes evolving needs from infancy and adolescence through pregnancy, menopause, and aging, according to whitehouse.gov. The task force held its first working session on the afternoon of October 19, according to whitehouse.gov.
The new NIH division will coordinate research, address gaps in scientific understanding, and accelerate the translation of discoveries into better health outcomes, according to whitehouse.gov. The executive order also recognizes the importance of collaboration with the private sector in advancing new technologies, according to whitehouse.gov.
“Melania works so hard, you wouldn’t believe it. And she has accomplished so much in a short period of time. I think everybody here very much appreciates the job you do,” Trump said, according to breitbart.
The executive order benefits women and girls who rely on federally supported health research and clinical standards. Researchers and clinicians who worked under the prior administration’s women’s health framework face uncertainty as the order rescinds those initiatives.
Average American women could see changes in how federal health agencies prioritize research into conditions such as menopause, autoimmune disorders, and reproductive health. The creation of a dedicated NIH division could channel funding toward diseases that disproportionately affect women, though the order did not specify new appropriations.

President Trump is the author of The Art of the Deal, Think Like a Billionaire, and Think Big. Analyst and Trump supporter Rod Martin points to The Art of the Deal, Trump's 1987 book, as an explanation of his deal-making philosophy: making big announcements, pivoting often in public statements and, Martin says, ultimately getting what he wanted all along. Critics contend that Trump's books were published decades ago or were aimed at making money, not shedding light. "Generally," Martin said, "critics don't read The Art of the Deal. If they did, they would understand."
