— Donald J. Trump endorsed Jenny Costa Honeycutt, a business owner and attorney, in the race for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District as early voting enters its final week before the November 3 general election.

The endorsement positions Honeycutt as the president’s preferred candidate in a coastal South Carolina district where she faces Democrat Nancy Lacore. Trump described Honeycutt as a “very successful Business Owner, Attorney, Civic Leader, and Loving Wife and Mother” and said she would fight for tax cuts, border security, energy production, and Second Amendment rights.

Trump attacked Lacore in sharp terms, calling her “Reckless, Radical, and Dangerous” and claiming she opposes his proposals to eliminate taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security benefits.

Here is the full post on truthsocial: “It is my Great Honor to endorse America First Patriot and Highly Respected Jenny Costa Honeycutt, who is running to represent the fantastic people of South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District! A very successful Business Owner, Attorney, Civic Leader, and Loving Wife and Mother, Jenny has dedicated her life to serving her Community. As your next Congresswoman, Jenny will fight tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Create GREAT Jobs, Keep our Border SECURE, Support our Incredible Military/Veterans, Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment. Jenny’s opponent, Nancy Lacore, is a Radical Left Democrat who is opposed to NO TAX ON TIPS, NO TAX ON OVERTIME, and NO TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY and, if she and the Dumocrats ever got in, all of these things will be terminated. She wants massive Tax Increases, Open Borders, Men playing in Women’s Sports, and Transgender Mutilization of your Children. Nancy Lacore is Reckless, Radical, and Dangerous! Jenny Costa Honeycutt has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Representative from South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District. GET OUT AND VOTE FOR JENNY — SHE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN! This is Trump’s 18th message released today, and the last post was 0 minutes ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 171 of his 567 posts over the last 30 days classified as Elections posts.

Trump shared a link to a Republican National Committee voting-information page for South Carolina by mentioning the source (see swampthevoteusa). Early voting in the state began on October 19 and runs through October 31, with election day set for November 3, according to swampthevoteusa.

The endorsement arrives with eight days remaining before voters head to the polls. Honeycutt would benefit from a surge in Republican turnout in the coastal district, while Lacore needs to overcome the weight of a presidential endorsement in a state Trump carried twice. The RNC page Trump linked urges voters to find their early voting locations, according to swampthevoteusa.

Trump has wielded his endorsement aggressively throughout the 2026 midterm cycle. Rep. Richard Hudson, the chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee, said Trump has “helped clear primary fields” in competitive districts, according to spotlightpa. “We certainly talk more, coordinate better than we did before,” Hudson said, according to spotlightpa.

The endorsement carries risk as well as reward. Trump-backed candidates have suffered 10 primary defeats in 2026, with six of those losses coming in August alone, according to mediaite. Trump claimed a 97 percent success rate on endorsements of Senate and gubernatorial candidates, a figure that broadly aligns with tracking by Ballotpedia, according to mediaite. Trump attributed the losses to loyalty, saying he felt “obligated” to back candidates who faced long odds.

Voters in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District will decide the race on November 3. No runoff date has been announced.

President Trump is the author of The Art of the Deal, Think Like a Billionaire, and Think Big. Analyst and Trump supporter Rod Martin points to The Art of the Deal, Trump's 1987 book, as an explanation of his deal-making philosophy: making big announcements, pivoting often in public statements and, Martin says, ultimately getting what he wanted all along. Critics contend that Trump's books were published decades ago or were aimed at making money, not shedding light. "Generally," Martin said, "critics don't read The Art of the Deal. If they did, they would understand."
