This is Trump’s 7th message released today, out of 12 total, and the last post came 1 minute earlier, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 89 of his 593 posts over the last 30 days classified as image-only posts.
Truth Social launched in the Apple App Store® in February 2022, after major sites such as Facebook® and the platform formerly known as Twitter® banned Trump following the Jan. six attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to Public Broadcasting Service. Both sites have since reinstated him, though he has mostly stayed off X, according to pbs. The company behind Truth Social does not disclose user numbers, though research firm Similarweb estimated the platform had roughly 5 million active users, a figure that trails more than 2 billion for TikTok® and more than 3 billion for Facebook, according to pbs.
The platform sits at the center of Trump Media & Technology Group C orp., a digital media company that trades on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker DJT. Trump remains the largest shareholder of the publicly traded parent company, meaning his posts carry weight far beyond a casual greeting, accordin g toThe Guar dian. He frequently uses the @realDonaldTrump account to announce major policy decisions before making them elsewhere, and the account had 13 million followers, according to theguardian.
The reach of that account has become a business asset.Trump Media & Technology Group C orp.rolled out a subscription data service called Truth API, giving paying customers faster, real-time access to Truth Social posts from Trump and other high-profile accounts, accordin g toThe Guar dian. Trading firms and other subscribers can access the posts earlier than other users for a fee of up to $100,000 per month, according to theguardian. More than 10 firms pay between $60,000 and $100,000 a month for the service, and the earliest customers were mostly high-frequency trading firms, according to bbc.
The financial stakes surrounding the platform sharpen scrutiny of even routine posts.Trump Media & Technology Group C orp.reported a loss of $238 million between April and June, more than 10 times the amount reported during the same period a year earlier, according to bbc. The company posted $1.7 million in revenue, which it said was up 89% from a year before, and closed the second quarter with total assets of $2 billion, according to bbc.
A short video greeting stands apart from those market-moving announcements, offering followers a light exchange rather than a policy signal. The post added no new claim, no name, and no directive beyond the words spoken on screen.
