WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald J. Trump threatened major military action against Iran and its Houthi allies after the Yemeni group fired on two Saudi Arabian ships, marking a return to hostilities in one of the world’s busiest shipping corridors.

Trump said the Houthis had acted responsibly for a year following a powerful U.S. strike but had now resumed attacks on commercial vessels. He warned that Washington would treat the group as a direct extension of Tehran. Further attacks would trigger retaliation against Iran itself, he said.

“if they do this again, the U.S. will hold Iran responsible, in that the Houthis are a Surrogate and/or Proxy of Iran, and major military punishment will be inflicted upon Iran and, of course, the Houthis, themselves,” Trump said in the post.
