Los Angeles Knight Riders Triumph Over Texas Super Kings In The 18th Match

CALIFORNIA CITY, CALIFORNIA — The 18th match of the Major League Cricket between Los Angeles knight Riders and Texas Super Kings was held at Knight Riders Cricket Field, Pomona, California USA on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
Powell, who was named man of the match, is a cricketer who plays for the West Indies Cricket team and is a former captain in Twenty20 Internationals. He joined the Los Angeles Knight Riders ahead of the 2025 Major League Cricket season and has been a key player for the Franchise.
Powell was named Player of the Match in the 18th match after he led the chase with an unbeaten 73 runs off 27 balls at a strike rate of 270.37. The knock was Powell’s 25th T20 half-century, and his innings included six fours and six sixes.
Rovman Powell struck an impressive 107-run partnership with Colin Munro from the ninth to the 18th over, guiding the Knight Riders to a 6-wicket victory before being dismissed at 166/4. The stellar performance earned him the honor.

Los Angeles Knight Riders walked into the match aiming to bounce back after a 20-run defeat to Seattle Orcas in their previous match, while Texas Super Kings were targeting a recovery from a last-ball loss to Washington Freedom. The two teams now had the pressure of improving their positions in the points table and also strengthening their chances of making the playoffs.
The match began with Los Angeles Knight Riders winning the toss and opting to bowl first, sending Texas Super Kings to bat. Texas Super Kings posted a target of 173 runs, and Los Angeles Knight Riders successfully chased it down, scoring 175/4 in 18 overs, winning the match by 6 wickets.
“We struck a 107-run partnership with Colin from the ninth to the 18th over. The partnership led to a six-wicket victory against our opponents. It is also the highest partnership for the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the 2026 MLC season," said Powell during an interview with Zenger News.”
The victory placed Los Angeles Knight Riders in the fifth position in the points table with a net run rate of +0.081, while Texas Super Kings secured the sixth position with a net run rate of -0.072. Los Angeles Knight Riders delivered with the bat during the match, maintaining the required speed and keeping pressure on Texas Super Kings bowlers.
The next match will be between the Washington Freedom and the San Francisco Unicorns on July 5th,2026. Los Angeles will then face MI New York in the 20th match, while the Texas Super Kings will play against Seattle Orcas in the 21st match.
