— Donald J. Trump accused his political opponents of wanting the United States to lose a war in Iran rather than let him claim a victory, in a Truth Social post attacking the left. Trump framed the argument as a choice between losing and winning, and cast his critics as afflicted by what he called Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Here is the full post on truthsocial: “The Radical Left Lunatics, Dumocrats, and Communists would rather have us LOSE the War in Iran, than have Trump WIN the War for America. In other words, they’d rather have us LOSE than have us WIN! These are very sick people who suffer from serious TDS, sometimes referred to as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME. Trump” on September 4, 2026 at 12:06 PM ET.

This is Trump’s 6th message released today, and the last post was 2 hours ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 77 of his 619 posts over the last 30 days classified as Foreign Policy posts.

The post names no individual opponents, instead grouping critics under labels Trump uses often against adversaries. Trump has repeatedly attached the phrase “Radical Left Lunatics” to Democrats and other critics in his public messaging. He used the same wording in an Easter Sunday message that also targeted former President Joe Biden and the courts according to cbsnews.

Trump has deployed the phrase across a range of grievances beyond foreign policy. Praise for a hospitalized Rudy Giuliani turned into a rant blaming the “Radical Left Lunatics” for the former mayor’s condition according to huffpost. Giuliani reached an agreement with Georgia election workers he was found to have defamed, in a case where the original lawsuit judgment was $148 million, though the actual compensation was not disclosed according to huffpost.

The language also surfaced after the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Trump told reporters, “We have radical Left Lunatics out there,” and “we just have to beat the hell out of them,” according to Yahoo Inc.. He blamed the rhetoric of the “radical left” for the shooting while acknowledging Kirk was an advocate of nonviolence according to yahoo.

Speaking to NBC News, Trump paired a call for national healing with an attack on the same group. “I’d like to see the nation heal,” Trump said. “But we’re dealing with a radical left group of lunatics, and they don’t play fair and they never did,” according to thedailybeast. The suggestion that Kirk’s suspected assassin held left-wing views was at odds with the known facts, and several outlets issued corrections about the suspect’s politics according to thedailybeast.

The post offered no detail on the scope, timing, or status of the conflict it referenced. Trump signed the message with his name in capital letters, a formatting choice he applies to many of his statements.
