Steven Gerrard, who’s not only an English professional football manager but also Liverpool’s former team captain, was voted Liverpool’s number one player of all time.

Gerrard retired years ago, in 2016, after a fantastic 19-year professional career. Now, as much as he is a long-time player, his efforts, achievements, consistency, and determination led to him being glorified today. The ranking of Liverpool’s player was done by his supporters, former football players, the club panel, and football analysts, to mention a few, resulting in more than 1.4 million votes and making him number 1.

Across Liverpool’s historical data of a hundred and thirty-four years, he managed to outdo everyone and be named the best after much analysis of his career journey. Unlike other legendary club members, Gerrard is the only player to have scored in a League Cup Final, UEFA Champions League, and FA Cup Final, among other honors. His brilliance in the sport left many amazed, leaving others craving to watch him play on the field again and again.

His wonderful performance made him a target for other teams, and efforts were made for him to transfer to various teams such as Chelsea and Real Madrid, but his unwavering loyalty made him turn down such offers; his only goal was to play for Liverpool, his club from a very young age.

At the age of 9, he joined the Liverpool academy, and his journey to being a star began. The English midfielder, born in Liverpool, spent 17 years with Liverpool’s first team and later on captained the team to memorable eras. The journey wasn’t easy, as he faced several challenges. He suffered from back and groin injuries caused by growth spurts that required specialized medical management in order to save his career.

At just the age of 22, Steven was promoted to club captain, and this was a huge moment in his life as the role came with a lot of pressure, but he took the challenge well, and he delivered trophies to the club. Many gave remarks about his game power, stating positive facts about him. Fernando Torres, a former teammate, said, “He is without a doubt the greatest player I have ever played with.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovi─ç, who was once an opponent in an international friendly match between Sweden and England some years back, said, “Every time we play against Steven, the coach always says to be careful with that player because he is the player that makes a difference.” Speaking after the announcement, Gerrard said he was humbled by the honor and thanked those who voted for him.

“I feel very flattered and honored. Thank you, everyone. I mean, wow, I didn’t expect this. By the way, I think people have maybe recency bias, it is called, where I’ve played in the recent generations, if you like. But there’ve been some incredible players before me and after me, so I am extremely flattered and humbled for this thank-you. “

For many Liverpool fans, Steven Gerrard has been more than a football player to them; he was the team’s golden goose, the captain who inspired those around him as he stepped up in every moment. Being voted as the club’s greatest player is a recognition of not only talent but also loyalty and passion for the sport throughout his career.
