WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald J. Trump dismissed warnings that artificial intelligence could destroy humanity as a hoax, comparing the alarm to past climate-change predictions and vowing to keep the United States ahead of China.

Trump said existing law enforcement can already police bad actors, framing any move to slow AI as a threat to American growth. He tied the debate to national security, arguing that whichever nation dominates the technology will lead the world.
