Trump pledges $5,000 dividend to adults if Republicans win Congress
Trump promises in a video to issue a $5,000 payment to every adult citizen if Republicans capture both the House and the Senate, citing economic success.
WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald J. Trump pledged a $5,000 payment to every adult citizen in the United States if Republicans win control of both chambers of Congress, in a video posted to his Truth Social account.
Trump framed the promise as a dividend tied to economic performance, likening it to a corporate cash distribution to shareholders. He said the payment would follow only if Republicans capture the House of Representatives and the Senate. Trump also referenced a $1,776 payment he said he gave members of the military the prior year.
“I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000,” Trump said in the video.
Here is the full post on truthsocial: “Because we’ve done so well and because our country is making so much money that only I can make this promise to you. And here is my promise. If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them, because of our economic tremendous economic success, like in in history we’ve never had anything like what’s happening. But because of our tremendous strength and success economically, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000. Very much like a successful company will do a cash distribution to its shareholders or like last year when I gave our great members of the military $1,776, remember?” on September 10, 2026 at 8:52 AM ET.
This is Trump’s 4th message released today, and the last post was 7 minutes ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 83 of his 646 posts over the last 30 days classified as image-only posts.
Trump tied the pledge directly to a Republican sweep of Congress. He conditioned the payment on the party winning both the House and the Senate, and described the country’s economic performance as unmatched in history. He compared the proposed payment to a distribution a profitable company makes to its shareholders.
