Trump Launches Poll Seeking a New Name for Artificial Intelligence
Trump asks his Truth Social followers to rename artificial intelligence, floating Superior Intelligence, Extreme Intelligence and Supreme Intelligence as alternatives to a term he calls inaccurate.
WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald J. Trump asked his Truth Social followers to vote on a new name for artificial intelligence, calling the current term inaccurate and ineloquent.
Trump proposed three alternatives in the post: Superior Intelligence, Extreme Intelligence and Supreme Intelligence. He framed the message as a poll and urged his audience to participate in choosing what he called a better label for the technology. He described the field as an ever growing revolution and asked which name best fit it.
Here is the full post on truthsocial: “Many people think that the words “Artificial Intelligence” are inaccurate, and very ineloquent, relative to AI, or Artificial Intelligence. A far more elegant and accurate description of this new phenomena would be Superior Intelligence (SI) or, Extreme Intelligence (EI) or, Supreme Intelligence (SI). This is a Poll, and I would appreciate everybody voting! Which is the best name for this ever growing “Revolution?” Trump” on September 19, 2026 at 11:29 AM ET.
This is Trump’s 2nd message released today, and the last post was 10 hours ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 48 of his 574 posts over the last 30 days classified as Uncategorized posts.
“The only control or “guardrails” that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!” Trump posted, according to globalnews.ca. He said the administration had already stopped the AI company Anthropic from doing bad, or potentially bad, things, according to globalnews.ca.

Trump has cast the debate as a matter of global competition. He claimed that constraining the technology could cause China to eclipse America on AI, according to globalnews.ca. “There is a SICK conspiracy going on against AI and Data Centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China,” he said, according to globalnews.ca.
Trump also dismissed warnings about the risks the technology could pose. “AI taking over the World, destroying Humanity, and all other things bad, is a HOAX,” he posted, according to globalnews.ca. The stance came after Amodei published a 3,800-word essay calling for slower development of AI, and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) published a code of conduct meant to keep humans in control, according to globalnews.ca. Amodei cited the technology’s growing ability to build the next generation of AI and a cyberattack by a swarm of OpenAI® agents as reasons to slow the pace, according to globalnews.ca.
Trump did not say when the poll would close or how the results would be used. The naming exercise arrived as the president continued to resist federal efforts to place limits on the fast-growing industry, according to globalnews.ca.
