Trump shares video of Kushner, Witkoff defending global negotiation record
Trump posts a video in which his envoys press their case on Gaza, Iran and Ukraine, citing first-term deals like the Abraham Accords and USMCA.
WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald J. Trump posted a video on Truth Social in which two of his lead negotiators defended their record on the world’s hardest conflicts and pledged to keep pressing for peace in Ukraine.
The video shows an interviewer challenging the negotiators over stalled talks on Gaza,Iran and Ukraine. The response invokes first-term achievements including the Abraham Accords and the U.S.-Mexico–Canada Agreement, which the speaker called the biggest trade deal in history. The exchange closes with an aide answering, “I couldn’t uh say it better, Jared. Thank you.”

This is Trump’s 2nd message released today, and the last post was 33 minutes ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 82 of his 644 posts over the last 30 days classified as image-only posts.
In the video, the negotiator acknowledges the difficulty of the assignments, saying, “I think these are some of the hardest problem sets in the world.” He credits first-term work such as the Abraham Accords and a trade deal with China. He also says he led the effort to bring the World Cup to America on Trump’s behalf. The speaker frames the current push as an extension of that record, telling the interviewer that trying matters because “if we don’t try, we will not succeed, and nothing will change.”
Steve Witkoff served as Trump’s special envoy and Jared Kushner as his son-in-law and former Middle East adviser during the first term, according to bbc. Trump said a note passed to him at the White House informed him that “we are very close to a deal,” according to bbc. Trump earlier urged everyone involved in the effort to “move fast,” adding that “Time is of the essence or massive bloodshed will follow,” according to bbc.
The video also touts the USMCA as a signature win, but that deal later fractured. Six years after it took effect, the Trump administration said it would not renew the pact and would instead begin a decade of negotiations on amendments, according to NBC News. Trump, who signed the USMCA in 2018, once called it “the best and most important trade deal ever made by the USA,” according to nbcnews. The administration argued the deal failed to rebalance trade, saying deficits with Mexico and Canada rose during the prior administration, according to nbcnews.
The video ends with a pledge to keep working on Ukraine. The negotiator says he cannot guarantee success but promises “everyone here in Ukraine and even everyone in Russia” a full effort on Trump’s behalf.
