Trump Blasts CNN, MSNBC Over Ratings and Xi Jinping Coverage
Trump says the two cable networks lost credibility and skipped the White House arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping, whose state dinner he calls spectacular.
WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald J. Trump attacked CNN and MSNBC in a Truth Social post, saying the two cable networks lost credibility and skipped the White House arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump linked their falling audiences to what he called biased coverage of his presidency.
Here is the full post on truthsocial: “CNN and MSDNC’s Ratings have dropped considerably. The primary reason is NO CREDIBILITY! They only write badly about a man who won the Election IN A GIANT LANDSLIDE, winning all 7 Swing States, the Popular Vote, and 86% of the Counties, etc., and whose Popularity has grown because of the unprecedented SUCCESS our Country is having on both the World Stage, and at home. CNN and MSDNC, to show you how fake they are, today refused to cover one of the Biggest and Most Beautiful Events to take place in many years, the arrival at the White House of the Highly Respected President of China, Xi Jinping, and his beautiful wife, Madam Peng. The event was magnificent — Actually made for Television but, because they’re Fake News, and because they knew how good it would be, they didn’t want credit to be given to “TRUMP,” they refused to be there. That’s why they have such poor Ratings. Tonight’s State Dinner at the White House, for President Xi, will be spectacular! The Media will be in attendance. Trump” on September 24, 2026 at 4:50 PM ET.
This is Trump’s 24th message released today, and the last post was 1 hour ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 26 of his 532 posts over the last 30 days classified as media bias posts.

Trump tied the coverage claims to his account of the 2024 election. He said in the post that he won all seven swing states, the popular vote and 86% of counties in what he called a giant landslide. Those figures come from Trump’s own account and were not independently confirmed in this report.
The post centered on the arrival of Xi Jinping, the president of China, and his wife, whom Trump referred to as Madam Peng. Trump praised the White House visit as one of the biggest events in years and said a state dinner for the Chinese leader would follow that evening. He asserted that the two networks refused to attend because they did not want to give him credit, and he claimed the media would attend the evening dinner even after skipping the daytime arrival.
