— Donald J. Trump asked the Smithsonian to install an 11-foot George Washington statue in the Museum’s Flag Hall and dedicate it on Constitution Day, September 17, 2026.

Trump proposed replacing the “Infinity” sculpture with a 30-foot Washington Colossus and staging a five-year exhibition on Washington’s life. The request frames the effort as a lead-up to Washington’s 300th birthday in 2032, in a post on truthsocial.

Here is the full post on truthsocial: “So, I’m asking for the Smithsonian to install the 11-foot Washington statue that was featured at the recent Freedom 250 Grand Prix Race in the Museum’s Flag Hall, and dedicate it this Constitution Day, September 17, 2026. Immediately design and display a five-year exhibition worthy of the Life, Sacrifice, and Contributions of George Washington. Then, as soon as it is ready, install a 30-foot Washington Colossus where “Infinity” stands today. Replace a sculpture that says nothing about America with the man who, more than anyone else, says everything about America. This is how we should begin to honor George Washington in the lead-up to his 300th birthday in 2032. Thank you for your attention to this matter! Trump” on September 11, 2026 at 10:31 PM ET.

This is Trump’s 8th message released today, and the last post was 5 hours ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 10 of his 619 posts over the last 30 days classified as Culture posts.

The post named the 11-foot statue as one featured at the recent Freedom 250 Grand Prix Race. Trump set a timeline that begins with dedication on Constitution Day and continues with the larger Colossus once it is ready.

The accompanying image shows a side-by-side comparison. One panel depicts a bronze Washington statue in classical robes with one arm raised, set on a stone pedestal before a building draped in American flags and red-white-and-blue bunting. The other panel shows a tall dark obelisk-shaped sculpture topped with a curved, looping metallic element, matching the “Infinity” sculpture Trump proposed to replace.
