— Donald J. Trump endorsed Republican candidate Joe Mitchell for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District, calling on voters to back him in November. Trump praised Mitchell in a video posted to Truth Social and framed the contest as a referendum on his own agenda.

Here is the full post on truthsocial: “ Joe Mitchell has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next U.S. Representative from Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN! Trump” on September 21, 2026 at 2:43 PM ET.

This is Trump’s 12th message released today, out of 13 total, and the last post was one minute ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 84 of his 555 posts over the last 30 days classified as Elections posts.

In the attached video, Trump described Mitchell as “a spectacular guy” and “a rising star in the Republican Party.” He said Mitchell is a home builder and real estate developer and was the youngest ever member of the Iowa State Legislature. Trump said Mitchell would fight for Iowa workers, families, and farmers in the United States House of Representatives.

Trump laid out the policy positions he said Mitchell would support in Congress. He said Mitchell would vote for low taxes, less regulation, more American energy, and Iowa ethanol. Trump said Mitchell would be “a rock solid vote” for the Second Amendment and border security. He also said Mitchell would help pass what he called the Stop Insider Trading Act, which he described as banning members of Congress from profiting on insider information.

Trump attacked Mitchell’s opponent, Democrat Lindsey James, in the video. He said James is “not even from Iowa” and is from Portland, Oregon, describing her as “a left-wing radical.” Trump claimed James wants to eliminate exemptions on tips, overtime, and Social Security taxes and to restore the estate tax. These characterizations came from Trump’s video and were not independently verified.

Trump closed the message by invoking his own record in the state. “I won Iowa three times in a row, getting the highest vote total in the history of the state for any office,” he said in the video. Trump urged supporters to treat the race as personal, saying, “pretend I’m on the ballot, cuz we really are on the ballot, and get out and vote for Joe Mitchell.”
