— Donald J. Trump promoted a Fox News broadcast reporting that U.S. median household income reached a record high, sharing a graphic that credited Census Bureau data as the source of the milestone.

Here is the full post on truthsocial: “LIVE U.S. HOUSEHOLD INCOME AT RECORD HIGH MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD INCOME, U.S. DOLLARS, 1967-2025 1970 1975 1980 1985 1990 1995 2000 2005 2010 2015 2020 2025 U.S. CENSUS BUREAU EJ ANTONI I HERITAGE FOUNDATION ECONOMIST FOX NEWS VOTERS FOCUSED ON GROCERIES, GAS AND HOUSING” on September 17, 2026 at 6:14 PM ET.

This is Trump’s 10th message released today, and the last post was 3 minutes ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 44 of his 570 posts over the last 30 days classified as Economy posts.

Americans’ median household income rose to $87,460 in 2025, or 2.6%, the first year of Trump’s second term, according to sg.finance.yahoo. The figure is the highest household income, adjusted for inflation, since the Census Bureau began measuring it in 1967, according to sg.finance.yahoo. The broadcast Trump shared displayed a blue area chart tracking that upward line from 1970 to 2025, sourced to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The record comes with a caveat. That figure sits only slightly above the previous peak of $85,320 set in 2019, meaning the typical household earned about 2.5% more than six years earlier, according to cbsnews. Median household income climbed 19% during the six years before the pandemic, from 2013 to 2019, according to cbsnews.

Many households still feel financially squeezed as prices for groceries, utilities and housing remain high after years of elevated inflation, according to sg.finance.yahoo. The Fox News lower-third banner in Trump’s post read “VOTERS FOCUSED ON GROCERIES, GAS AND HOUSING.” Both Republicans and Democrats have acknowledged an affordability crisis, worsened this year by a steep increase in gasoline and oil prices, according to sg.finance.yahoo.

The gains were uneven across income levels. The top 10% of earners reported income growth of 1.7% last year to $261,300, while the poorest one-tenth reported a slight decline to just over $20,000, according to cbsnews. “It’s notable that the median income for the top earners is increasing, while income for the lowest earners is stagnant,” said Kristin Seefeldt, associate professor of social work and public policy at the University of Michigan, according to cbsnews.

The poverty rate fell half a percentage point to 10.2% in 2025, and the child poverty rate dropped to 13.4%, the lowest on record, according to sg.finance.yahoo. Women in full-time year-round jobs earned 83.9% of what their male counterparts did in 2025, up from 80.6%, the first statistically significant annual increase since 2016, according to sg.finance.yahoo. The Census Bureau released the annual income, poverty and health insurance estimates for the nation, according to census.gov.

The latest report does not reflect cuts to Medicaid and food stamps under the One Big Beautiful Bill, which Trump signed into law in July 2025, according to cbsnews. Some analysts said the effect of those cuts may not appear until the Census reports on 2026 income, due in 2027, according to cbsnews.
