Trump Orders GSA to Strip Canadian Products From Federal Schedules

Trump directs the GSA and USTR to remove Canadian-origin goods from Multiple Award Schedules he values at more than $50 billion a year unless Canada restores what he calls full trade reciprocity.

WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald J. Trump directed the General Services Administration to remove Canadian-origin products from federal purchasing schedules unless Canada opens its government procurement markets to American farmers and companies.

The order targets Multiple Award Schedules that Trump valued at more than $50 billion a year. He said he issued the directive to the GSA working with the U.S. Trade Representative. He framed the move as a response to what he called a lack of reciprocity in cross-border trade.

He said Canadian governments and provinces bar U.S. small businesses from bidding on public contracts, while Canada keeps broad access to American procurement markets.
